When I started to learn watercolour I had no idea how to “see” things, who would have thought there were so many colours in nature!
As we walked through the “King’s Park” in Perth, I saw so many types gum nut trees, so many I couldn’t count them. I did collect a few fallen ones and had a good long look at them, however, due to state laws you must not bring plant material from state to state. So I had to bin them in Western Australia.
We are now in Alice Springs, Northen Territory, hot dry and big sky country! We visited a botanical garden here, the life long dream of Olive Pink (www.opbg.com.au). She was a fearless advocate for aboriginal rights and a botanical artists. So I had every intention of walking to the gardens this morning, which I did, in the good company of my long suffering gracious Husband Bruce. I planned a day of a leisurely lunch and a painting spot perched in the shade with a cool breeze! That did not happen! It was 32 degrees when we started out, by mid day it hit 36 degrees! We did have lunch outside just barely and high tailed it right back to our AC’d room and I painted from a photo of Gum Nuts in Perth, sorry Olive, it was just too hot! Here they are.
